Thonglor is Sukhumvit Soi 55, the long spine running north from the BTS station of the same name. It is Bangkok's best-known expatriate and Thai-professional neighbourhood: low-rise restaurants and bars along the soi, quieter residential sub-sois behind them, and a dense cluster of mid- and high-rise condominiums. Rents sit at the upper end of the Sukhumvit line. The trade-off is traffic — the soi is long, and a unit at the far end can be a fifteen-minute walk or a ten-minute motorbike ride from the station.
